Gibraltar has participated in the Own Eurovision Song Contest once since making its debut in the fifty-fifth edition.
GBC unsuccessfully attempted to enter the fifty-fourth edition. The application was rejected due to it being an overseas territory of the United Kingdom. The broadcaster stated that even though their participation was not possible due to the country not being a member of Own European Broadcasting Union, they would watch the contest from their mountain and wait for membership to finally compete and win. The territory was finally granted OEBU membership in the in the fifty-fifth edition, thus being able to debut and becoming the first country to debut since Syria's debut in #25 and the first European country to debut since Åland Islands and Latvia made their debut in #07.
