Romania will participate in the first special edition, Own Eurovision Song Contest 5 and will select their entry through an internal selection.
Andreea Bălan will represent Romania in Own Eurovision Song Contest 5 with her song "Prinde-mă, aprinde-mă ". The contest will take place in Brussels , Belgium .
Romania has placed 20th out of 26 countries, receiving a total of 54 points at the end of the voting.

On June 10, 2012, it was announced that Andreea Bălan will represent Romania in the fifth edition of Own Eurovision Song Contest in Brussels , Belgium with her song "Prinde-mă, aprinde-mă ".

Ending in the top 5 in Own Eurovision Song Contest 4 means that Romania is part of the Big 5 countries, so it automatically qualified for a place in the final. In addition to their participation in the final, Romania was assigned to vote in the first semi-final.
Romania was draw to perform 19th in the Grand Final. At the end of the voting Romania placed 20th, receiving 54 points.
